MAX PADOVAN, Managing Director

Max was born in Herberton, North Queensland and was educated at University of Southern Queensland where he received his Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Surveying).  He began working in a small private practice after leaving school and has since acquired his Advanced Certificate in Mine Surveying.

Having spent many years in both the mining and construction industries Max established Max Padovan & Associates in 1988.

In his career as a consultant he has developed specialist skills in the following areas of expertise:

  • Administration and provision of surveying services for large scale construction and mining projects
  • Developed technical skills in the use of survey instruments and further honed precise and accurate surveying techniques
  • Development of planning and co-ordinating skills
  • Substantial exposure to computer systems and their operating software, e.g. Vulcan, Civilcad, Surpac, Moss, AutoCAD, GEO Comp, SDR Mining and Design.

Max’s natural leadership style and preparedness to roll up the sleeves sees him regularly “leading by example” thereby enabling all participants and stakeholders in a group to focus, contribute, deliver and most importantly achieve the project objectives.

His ability to communicate with clients in plain English, see the “Big Picture” yet maintain an unwavering attention to detail and understanding of what is really required makes him a unique and valuable adviser.

Max is the founding shareholder of MPA Surveying and is a principal consultant and Managing Director.

 

MICHAEL BLAIN, General Manager

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and joined MPAS in June 2007, bringing with him 10 years of business and financial management experience across a number of service industry sectors both in Australia and Britain.

Immediately before joining MPAS, Michael spent four years as a finance business adviser in the Highways Agency (UK), a government body that builds, operates and maintains the strategic road network in England. This role was a finance advisory role to business units in delivering infrastructure projects.  Prior to that Michael spent three years contracting in the UK working for small and large organisations in finance roles.  Before leaving Australia Michael was a financial controller for a family group of businesses that spanned the tourism and racing industries.

Michael’s skill sets in financial and business management consulting will be utilised in assisting the MPAS in delivering growth from its existing assets – both people and property.

RON MORRISON, Project Manager - Systems / Field

Ron joined MPAS in 1996 and has occupied various roles within the Senior Management Team through to his current position of Project Manager – Systems / Field.

During his tenure with MPAS, Ron has worked in both Civil and Building environments on such projects as the Roma Street Parklands, Southeast Transit Busway and Bus Stations, Queensland Cultural Centre Stage 5, Pacific Highway Upgrade, QUT Creative Industry Precinct and Century Zinc Mine. He has also carried out numerous roles on various mine sites such as Newlands, Collinsville, Oaky Creek, Burton, Coppabella coal mines.

This diverse range of experience, from underground mining to high precision construction projects has developed specialized skills such as:

  • The development and management of survey requirements for large projects
  • Extensive experience in the preparation and calculation of production quantities
  • Comprehensive use of several survey software packages
  • Maintenance and development of Quality Assurance and Safety systems on projects and throughout the company

Ron holds an Associate Degree (Surveying) from the University of Southern Queensland and also the Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

 STEVE BOXELL, Project Manager - Cadastral & Dimensional Survey

With over 25 years experience in the surveying industry, Steve brings a wealth of experience to MPAS. He has recently joined the team to head up the Mackay office and over-see Central Queensland operations.

Steve has worked in many facets of surveying, including major construction, rail, highway, pipeline and port projects associated with the Iron Ore and Gas industries in the North of Western Australia. He has also worked directly with mining companies in open cut operations, plant maintenance, tenement pegging and exploration.

Moving to Perth, Steve was actively involved in high-rise building developments in the CBD,  bridge construction on the Perth to Mandurah rail project, precise survey for the fabrication of Stackers, Reclaimers, Ship loaders and train car dumpers for handling iron ore and cadastral and civil work on subdivisions.

Steve holds a Science degree in Surveying and Mapping from Curtin University and is also a Licensed Surveyor.

 

DAN WRIGHT-RAMSAY, Senior Surveyor - Gladstone

Dan has completed an Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering at the University of Central Queensland and has over 15 years industry experience in construction and mining with 6 years experience as a Civil Surveyor.  Dan joined MPAS in March 2007 after gaining experience in Western Australian where he participated in and supervised several earthwork projects including;

  • Mt Keith airport upgrade
  • Telfer mine expansions
  • Sally Malay mine development
  • HI Yandi expansion projects

Dan has 4 years experience in roads, dirt and earthworks, including surveying the construction of a 16km haul road, workshop set out and ancillary set outs for Area C Iron Ore Mine, near Newman in Western Australia.

Dan brings with him supervisory experience and a practical and professional work ethic which results in very good relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues.
